I don’t know why, but conversations between toddlers (with no adult input at all) always amuse/fascinate me. Maybe it’s because just a year ago they were still figuring out body parts and animal noises and now they’re old enough to have intelligable interactions.
Overheard as I was leaving the daycare this morning…
3yr old girl: Where’s your mommy?
2-1/2 yr old son: Oh, she’s just going to work.
There’s no reason that should have made me laugh. It’s a totally routine exchange. But this is the same kid that runs around in circles until he falls down and makes up words to be funny and who’s favorite words these days are poop and toot. He’s right in the middle of baby and big kid. He might whine and point, or he might give a complex multi-sentence response to a simple question. He pinches and hits when frustrated, but points out the emotions shown on tv or in books. (My favorite is that whenever he sees someone sad, he says “Oh!!! He’s sad! He misses/needs his mommy.” NOOOO one I know taught him that. But he’s said it for a couple of months. Maybe it’s a daycare thing. Or maybe he just loves his mommy.

I think/knows he loves his Mom! Very, very cute!
