I guess I haven’t mentioned it much, but for the past decade or so, I’ve done historical reenactment with the local SCA group. Next weekend is the annual 12th Night celebration and they’re having a fund-raising raffle to help pay for the expenses of running the “kingdom”. The goal is to one day become self-sufficient with a trust fund, but now, they get a certain amount of money from the corporate non-profit entity, partial profits from a couple of events, and a whole lot of donations and fund-raising.
This year’s raffle has options for higher-priced tickets, so instead of my traditional donation of a card-woven belt* I made an SCA edition of a Waldorf doll…with everything she needs for an event away from home.

You’ll notice that she’s not a typical princess doll. There are such a wide variety of time-periods done that I wanted a very widely appropriate outfit. A simple tunic for a child is much more broadly done than an elaborate Elizabethan outfit! (And yes, I’m a slacker and should have woven a belt, but I plead two year old and a few months of life-insanity!)

This is her everyday outfit for traveling to and from events, and the post-rev (a.k.a. after-party). In the SCA, these are called “mundane” clothes. If you wear them at an event, you’re naked!

And in these parts, we average four or five hours drive to an event. Not a lot of day-trips! So warm flannel nighty for overnights.
*I don’t have any pics of donated belts available, but here are a couple of weaving examples if you’re not familiar: here, here, here, and here. Most of the examples were donations or gifts. Typically, I don’t actually possess any of them!

I love her..she reminds me a bit of Laura Ingells.

Just finished reading your updates. Happy Birthday to you and Walker!
Sorry to hear about your accident. So glad it wasn’t more serious!
Thanks Jean. We should have the whole car thing sorted out by this weekend. New(-ish) car is picked out and the money stuff seems to be sorted.
